ONLINE BIDDING Online bidding is here to stay! It's easy and fun, and you can place a bid with two clicks. Every week we offer hundreds of great quality items fresh-to-the-market from local Estates and collections. It's a fabulous and earth-friendly way to furnish and decorate your space and even yourself! But if you have questions, here's a quick breakdown of what you need to know to bid like a pro.   AUCTION TYPES: Our different auctions all work a little differently, but if you watch the bidding for a little bit, it'll all make sense: Discovery Auctions A timed, cascade close of 5 lots/minute: at the designated end time, the first five lots will close all together. One minute later, the next five lots will close, and so on, and so on... Two-minute extension for last-second bids: any bid entered in the last few seconds before the lot closes automatically extends bidding on that lot for two minutes. Any bid placed within that extension resets the clock for another 2 minutes If no one else bids within that 2 minutes, the lot closes. That's why you might see one lot still open while the lots after it have closed. Sometimes lots stay open for a while if there's a bidding war! Buyer's Premium: 18% Fine Estates Auctions More like a live auction, but bidding is still all online Bidding is available on our platform and Live Auctioneers Pre-auction (a.k.a. Absentee) bidding is open for two weeks before auction day On auction day at the designated start time, we'll open lot 1 for real-time online bidding. When that lot closes, lot 2 will open, and so on and so on... Buyer's Premium: 23% on our platform / 28% on Live Auctioneers Special Collection Auctions Just like our Discovery auctions, except a little slower, with a timed, cascade close of 3 lots/minute. Also like the Discovery auctions, there's a two-minute extension for last-second bids. Buyer's Premium: 18% ONLINE BIDDING TIPS: Not sure when a lot will close? Look at the blue countdown clock on the photo. Not sure if you have the high bid? Look for the green box around your bid. Did you win? Look for a green "You Won!" box around your bid. Congratulations! Want to mark some lots to look at later? Click the star icon in the top left of the main photo. To  view your list, click "My Items" in the white bar above the lot listing. Want to place a Max Bid (a.k.a. a "set it and forget it bid) and let the system bid for you? Click the the down arrow to the right of the bid button, and choose "Set Max Bid from the menu. The system will bid for you up to that max, but not over. Need to know when you can pick up your winning items? Look in the Auction Info listing. It's the first "lot" in every auction we post. Lots of useful info in there! Always a good idea to read the bidding terms before you bid, just so you know all there is to know about the auction.   BUYER'S PREMIUM The Buyer's Premium is a percentage of the winning bid amount that's added to the winning bid before sales tax. It helps us keep our consignment rates competitive so that we can keep bringing you such great stuff every week. Each auction's details, terms, etc. will always clearly state the buyer's premium percentage.   PAYMENT At the conclusion of each auction we will charge your credit card on file UNLESS: You're a first-time bidder with us: at our discretion we may charge your card. Otherwise, payment must be by cash, certified/cashier's check, or wire transfer. We will email you a copy of your invoice and payment details after the auction. Payment must clear/be finalized before merchandise pickup   Your invoice is over $5,000: payment MUST be by wire transfer, certified/cashier's check, or cash. We will email you a copy of your invoice and payment details after the auction. Payment must clear/be finalized before merchandise pickup.   You purchase a vehicle: payment MUST be by wire transfer, certified/cashier's check, or cash. We will email you a copy of your invoice and payment details after the auction. Payment must clear/be finalized before merchandise pickup.   SALES TAX We're required by PA law to collect sales tax on almost everything we sell, except for the usual: clothing, coins, vehicles, and/or anything else that PA doesn't tax. Otherwise, it's all taxable, INCLUDING the buyer's premium. If you're buying for resale and have a tax exemption license, please make sure we have it on file BEFORE the auction you're bidding in ends, so that we can ensure there's no tax on your invoice BEFORE we charge your credit card.
